FAQ
Q. What is your degree in?
A. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Graphic Design, from the University of Idaho.
Q. what is your past experience in?
A. Most of my past experience is in apparel and promotional item design, social media and marketing content creation, as well as a screen printer, and phone background, gif and sticker creator. I have also done company branding and event design coordination. Before my career began, I have been a Business Manager at a Girl Scout summer camp, dog walker, “bud”tender, hockey game scorekeeper, hostess, server, pizza delivery driver, and I could go on. I’m grateful for the customer service experience that I have because it helps me make connections to those around me.
Q. What is your philosophy on design and how does that impact your work?
A. My philosophy about design is how an individual’s unique experiences and education can expand the possibilities of what can be produced through communication and collaboration. Having new perspectives can shed light on missed opportunities and contribute to a successful result, whether they are on your team or striking up conversation with a stranger with an outside perspective. Coming to a creative solution to a problem while also making it aesthetically pleasing is what I aim to do as a designer. I look for inspiration from new places all the time, whether it is from meeting new people, a new environment I’ve traveled to, stumbling upon a creative social media profile, etc. Growing up in a generation with unlimited technology access, it has been hard to pinpoint exactly who I am as a designer. I like to try out new aesthetics and ways of creating art. I usually ask my friends what they’re into and what things that they like to learn more about other people’s tastes and trends.
Q. where do you want to be in 5 years?
A. Other than rescuing a bunch of dogs, I would love to own my own sustainable shop, designing with thrifted and recycled materials. I always say, if I didn’t focus on graphic design, I would’ve like to study sustainability. I’d just like to be well into a career and life of being committed to the people, ideas, and organizations I can be proud to be a part of.
Q. what other things are you interested in?
A. I enjoy many things, like playing hockey, watching hockey, rollerblading, skiing, drawing, dogs, camping, hiking, paddle boarding, getting drinks with friends, fighting for human rights and equality, standing up for people who need help, deep discussions about existence and the possibilities of what comes after death, theories of aliens and the unknown, and other topics beyond mundane small talk. We aren’t here for a long time, but here for a good time.
Q. any fun facts we should know?
A. Well, I have been on television before, and it’s a great story. I am on Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown”, Season 10 Episode 7.
